Donald MacLeod of Bearnairaigh \u2013 nicknamed The Old Trojan \u2013 was a Jacobite supporter. When his chief, MacLeod of Dunvegan, called for him to provide 20 men for the Hanoverian army he did so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But he sent MacLeod a message declaring that he would normally have served at their head but he had a more imperious duty which called him. He then joined the Jacobite army!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Culloden, he spent some time in hiding in a cave on Sron Ulladal, one of the hills in the North Harris deer-forest, and later at Gob na Tobha, the headland at Taobh Tuath. Donald MacLeod\u2019s grave is at St Clement\u2019s Church at Roghadal.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
