The collection of place-names on West Harris (Losgaintir, Seilibost, Horgabost, Borgh, Sgarasta Mhor, Sgarasta Bheag, and Tarasaigh) was organised by George MacLeod, who has spent all his life in the area and is a natural Gaelic-speaker. For Tarasaigh, the collection was done by Bill Lawson. who spent many summers on the island along with the MacRaes, the last family there.
