Description
Islands in a Vast Sea
Prehistoric Hebridean Mobility
A talk by Mairi MacLean
Join us for an evening exploring what the latest scientific techniques — from isotopes to radiocarbon dating — can tell us about life in the prehistoric islands.
About Mairi
Mairi MacLean is the Development Officer for Comann Dualchas Innse Gall (CDIG) and is based on the Isle of Barra. She studied Archaeology & Geoscience at the University of Aberdeen and Osteoarchaeology at the University of Sheffield, and recently completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow with SUERC. Her research looks at how people lived, travelled and connected across the ancient Hebrides, and how new scientific evidence can challenge old stories.
A relaxed, engaging evening for anyone curious about the history of our islands — no background knowledge needed.
