All donations will go towards the running of Hebrides People so that we can preserve the genealogical history of the Outer Hebrides from Lewis to Barra.
Is mise Elisabeth and I’m the new Volunteer Coordinator joining the expanding team at the Hebrides People Visitor Centre.
We are really excited to have the opportunity through the National Heritage Lottery Fund to build a wonderful volunteer group to support the unique and important ongoing heritage archive work, as well as the history and cultural exhibitions at the Hebrides People Visitors Centre in Northton, which we’re proud to share with visitors from all around the world.
Why volunteer with us?
Are you passionate about the Hebrides’ unique culture, history, and community?
Do you enjoy meeting new people, supporting important local organisations and sharing the stories and knowledge of the beautiful Western Isles?
Do you speak Gaelic and have an interest in the history of Western Isles families over the centuries?
Maybe you are looking for some opportunities to get outside and share our local landscape with visitors or enjoy working outdoors?
Maybe you live away from the islands, even overseas and have used our genealogy services or visited the centre and like what we do? We also have remote online volunteering opportunities for you!
Whether it’s one off support, just ten minutes every now and then or a more regular project/group, we have volunteering opportunities for everyone!
All volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome at our inclusive centre.
We are proud to be a Charter Champion of Volunteer Scotland’s Volunteer Charter that underpins the foundations for a great volunteer experience at our centre.
Free refreshments available for our on-site volunteers!
If you’re interested then please give the centre a call on 01859 520258 or email the Volunteer Coordinator at Elisabeth@hebridespeople.com for more information.
