Our exhibitions tell the story of the people and landscapes of Harris and the Western Isles — from the geology that shaped the islands, to the first settlers, the community of St Kilda, and the long history of emigration.
Alongside the exhibition, our Sgeulachdan section shares features on villages, families and island life. In Fiosrachadh, you’ll find learning materials, images, audio recordings from across the Western Isles, and family charts for the people of St Kilda.
We also host weekly talks on Hebridean ancestry, Gaelic language and Harris Tweed weaving, running from April to October.
Tha taghadh fharsaing de leabhraichean ri lorg anns a bhùth againn, a’ gabhail a-steach ficsean, eachdraidh ionadail, eachdraidh a’ Ghàidhealtachd, msaa.
Also available in our Hebrides People Visitor Centre shop are Harris Tweed gifts, Hebridean soaps, greetings cards by local artists, a selection of teas from Tiree Tea, Gneiss Things stone jewellery, and more.
